Free dental and
health insurance

If you have a student job in a financial company that is covered by the Standard Collective Agreement, you have free dental and health insurance. It can give you a subsidy for your dental bill or bill for treatment by a physiotherapist and access to fast treatment.

Can I get three months’ free membership? 

If you have a job or are unemployed, the following applies

We welcome all new members with three months’ free membership of Finansforbundet. If you are a former member, you get three months’ free membership if this is more than six months ago.  

If you are a student, the following applies

As a student member, your membership is free throughout your studies.

How much is the membership fee? 

Finansforbundet is one of the cheapest trade unions in Denmark. This is how much a membership costs:

  • Employed: Membership fee of DKK 285 per month
  • Unemployed: Membership fee of DKK 170 per month
  • Students and trainees: Membership fee of DKK 0 per month 

The first three months are free. If you have previously been a member, you can get three months’ free membership if this is more than six months ago.

Keep in mind that the membership fee is deductible for tax purposes on an annual basis.

Can I become a member?

If you have a job, the following applies

You are eligible for membership if you work in the financial sector, for an organisation that has entered into a collective agreement with Finansforbundet or are enrolled for an educational programme focused on the financial sector.

In addition, you may become a member if you primarily work with IT or economics related to finance.

If you are a student, the following applies

You are eligible for a student membership if you are a student of an educational programme focused on the financial field, e.g. programmes in economics, business administration, finance, investment, mathematics, IT, compliance, real estate and the like.
 
If you are a student of a non-financial programme (e.g. biology, nursing, physiotherapy, etc.), you are not eligible for membership. However, if you have a student job in a company that has entered into a collective agreement with Finansforbundet, you may become a regular member. This also applies if your student job involves working primarily with IT or economics related to finance.

If you are unemployed, the following applies

As unemployed, you are eligible for membership if you are connected with the financial sector, for example, if your education or employment history focuses on the financial sector.

What is the termination notice period for my membership?

If you have a job, the following applies

  • If you stay in the financial sector, the notice period is three months.
  • If you switch to a job outside the sector, the notice period is end of month plus 30 days.

If you are a student, the following applies

  • There is no notice period for students. You may discontinue your membership from one day to the next.

As you approach your graduation date, we will call you to discuss your options in terms of membership.

If you are unemployed, the following applies

  • If you are unemployed, the notice period is end of month plus 30 days.
How do I invite a colleague and get a gift card? 

If you as a member recommend Finansforbundet to a colleague/friend who is not yet a member, you will receive a gift card of DKK 400 if your colleague/friend chooses to join. Your colleague/friend will also get the first three months of membership for free.

How much does a membership cost when I've graduated?

The first 12 months of your student membership are for free. After that, the membership fee is DKK 20 a month.  

When you graduate, the membership fee is: 

  • DKK 20 a month for the first six months after graduation 

After that, the membership fee is: 

  • DKK 285 per month if you have a job
    DKK 170 per month if you are unemployed  
Can I become a student member?

You are eligible for a student membership if you are a full-time student of an educational programme entitling to study grants (SU), focused on the financial field, e.g. programmes in economics, business administration, finance, investment, mathematics, IT, compliance, real estate and the like. If you are a financial trainee or similar, you may also become a student member.

If you are a student of a non-financial programme (e.g. biology, nursing, physiotherapy, etc.), you cannot become a student member. If you have a student job in a company that has entered into a collective agreement with Finansforbundet, you may become a regular member instead. This also applies if your student job involves working primarily with IT or economics related to finance.

Can I get a 12-month student membership for free?

We welcome all new student members with 12 months’ free student membership of Finansforbundet. If you have previously been a member, you can get 12 months’ free membership if this is more than a year ago. 

For how long can I be a student member?

You can be a student member as long as you are studying.

How long is the notice period for my membership?

The following applies to student members

  • In the first 12 months of free membership, there is no notice period. You may discontinue your membership from one day to the next.
  • After the first 12 months, the notice period is end of month plus 30 days.

The following applies to graduates

  • If you work in the financial sector, the notice period is three months.
  • If you have a job outside the sector or if you are unemployed, the notice period is end of month plus 30 days.
How do I get contents insurance at a price of DKK 0?

As part of your student membership, you may take out contents insurance at a price of DKK 0.The contents insurance is valid until you turn 30 and offers a well-being hotline for you to call anonymously and free of charge. The contents insurance as well as the well-being hotline are provided by our partner Tryg. 

When joining Finansforbundet, you must, to take out the contents insurance, actively do so. You may also wait – as long as you are a student member, the contents insurance is available to you.   
As a student member, you may also take out other student insurance policies with Tryg at particularly attractive prices, such as travel insurance, accident insurance and car insurance. You may do so either when joining or at a later stage during your student membership. 

How long can I keep my contents insurance policy?

You may keep your contents insurance as long as you are a student. If you are over 30 years old and still a student, Tryg will contact you to learn more about your situation. However, you may in any case keep your contents insurance while studying. 

What is Finansforbundet’s unemployment insurance fund?

An unemployment insurance fund is your financial security if you become unemployed, for example after graduation. As a student, you can join Finansforbundet's unemployment insurance fund, A&Til, free of charge. If you sign up at least one year before you graduate, you will secure your right to unemployment benefits from day one after graduation. Membership of the unemployment insurance fund is free for five years of studying.
