The companies are different – but we share the challenges

The hall at Hotel Nyborg Strand was buzzing with energy, debate and seriousness about the task when Finansforbundet in Nordea's delegation met with the almost 180 others at Finansforbundet's national meeting at the end of September.

Together, we had prepared well. In total, we were 24 delegates from Finansforbundet in Nordea – union representatives, joint union representatives, alternates and board members – composed in a way that we represented all parts of the membership in the best possible way.

See Claus Bech's picture of the 24 (+ FiN's head of secretariat) below – maybe you recognize someone?

AI, new technology, well-being, room for everyone and a visible, relevant Finansforbund

The national meeting determined Finansforbundet's political direction for the next three years.

Through debates and work across the delegations, input from different parts of the sector was gathered. The work showed that we have largely the same challenges in the companies, even though the companies are different.

We ended up with four themes that will be particularly focused on towards 2029, when the next national meeting will be held:

  • AI and new technology
    • Here, emphasis was placed on upskilling, time to learn the new tools, as well as data ethics and transparency
  • Well-being and a sustainable working life
    • Work pressure, stress, redundancies and the need for more peace and quiet were central themes
  • Room for everyone in the labour market
    • Under this point, competence development, diversity, inclusiveness and flexible opportunities were central
  • A more visible and relevant Finance Union
    • Finansforbundet's priorities must be more visible to the members and translated into concrete results

On the board of Finansforbundet in Nordea, we are pleased that we had such a strong and committed delegation in Nyborg. It was simply a pleasure to see how many Nordea delegates got involved in the debates in both smaller groups and from the podium, and we can clearly see the district's imprint on the final decisions.

Exciting work lies ahead. We have a strong, common ground for diving further into the responsible use of AI, employee influence, competencies and a sustainable working life for all Finansforbundet's members.
