Paid Dental-, Health and Group life-insurance
If you are employed by a company covered by one of Finansforbundet’s collective agreements, you are typically entitled to employer-paid Dental Insurance, Health Insurance and Group Life Insurance. In addition to the financial benefits they provide, they also contribute to ensuring that you have a healthy and secure working life.

What do you get?
Finansforbundet has secured that the premiums for all three insurance schemes are paid by your employer, representing a combined annual value of approximately DKK 4,800.
Dental insurance:
This insurance may vary from company to company, but it must as a minimum include the following terms:
- An annual deductible of no more than DKK 1,000.
- Coverage of expenses up to DKK 30,000 per year.
- Coverage for, for example, fillings, X-rays, root canal treatment, periodontitis treatment and oral surgery.
At present, Finansforbundet is the only trade union that has succeeded in securing employees the right to dental insurance.
Health insurance:
The health insurance gives you access to examinations, operations and treatment by a psychologist, chiropractor, physiotherapist, or at a private hospital, and provides the possibility of having the associated costs covered.
In addition, the health insurance ensures that you gain quick access to treatment if you become ill or are injured, and it provides free choice of hospital throughout the Nordic countries and at least one additional country.
Remember to contact Finansforbundet if you are uncertain about what your health insurance covers.
Group life insurance:
The Group Life Insurance provides financial cover in a number of unfortunate situations, such as death or critical illness.
If you are covered by Finansforbundet’s Standard Collective Agreement (STOK), one of Finansforbundet’s Company Collective Agreements (VOKs), or Finansforbundet’s collective agreements in Greenland and the Faroe Islands, you are covered by a group life insurance policy through the insurance company Forenede Gruppeliv (FG). The Group Life Insurance covers, among other things, death and critical illness affecting either yourself or your children.
Cover in the Event of Death
In the event of your death, a lump-sum payment, known as the death benefit, is paid out.
The death benefit depends on your age at the time of death:
Under age 55: DKK 1,000,000
Age 55-63: DKK 500,000
Age 63-99: DKK 250,000
Who Is Designated as Beneficiary in the Event of Death?
It is important that you decide who should be designated as beneficiary in the event of your death. This can be done via Forenede Gruppeliv, where you log in using MitID.
Different rules apply depending on whether your pension scheme or beneficiary declaration was established before or after 1 January 2008.
If your scheme or declaration was established AFTER 1 January 2008, your next of kin are prioritised in the following order:
- Your spouse/registered partner
- Your cohabiting partner*
- Your children, adopted children, grandchildren, etc. (direct descendants)
- Your heirs according to your will**
- The heirs entitled to receive the funds under the Danish Inheritance Act
If your scheme or declaration was established BEFORE 1 January 2008, your next of kin are prioritised in the following order:
- Your spouse/registered partner
- Your children, adopted children, grandchildren, etc. (direct descendants)
- Your heirs according to your will**
- The heirs entitled to receive the funds under the Danish Inheritance Act
* You are considered a cohabiting partner in the legal sense if you:
- Lived with the deceased at the time of death and are expecting/have/had a child together with the deceased; or
- Lived with the deceased at the time of death and had lived together in a marriage-like relationship at a shared address for the two years immediately preceding the death.
** Please note that heirs named in your will are disregarded when a custodial insurance benefit is paid out if you are employed in the public sector under a collective agreement.
Critical Illness
If you are diagnosed with a critical illness covered by the insurance, you may be entitled to a lump-sum payment of DKK 200,000.
Children
If you have children under the age of 24 who are diagnosed with a critical illness covered by the insurance, you may be entitled to a lump-sum payment of DKK 100,000.
Please note that the cover for certain critical illnesses has been improved on an ongoing basis.
1 January 2025: Improved insurance conditions for certain critical illnesses.
1 January 2026: Further improvements to cover for certain critical illnesses.
