Collective Bargaining Collapse in the Financial Sector

The parties have withdrawn from the 2023 collective bargaining in the financial sector, and Finansforbundet has given its first notice of industrial action. Negotiations will now continue under the Conciliation Board.

‘We came to the negotiation table with a constructive mindset to deliver a reasonable and responsible result, because that’s what the employees, the sector and society need. We haven’t seen the same willingness from the employers, and we have therefore been forced to give our first notice of industrial action. We must now see how the negotiations can continue’, says Kent Petersen, President of Finansforbundet.

As the planned central negotiations between the parties have ended without results for the time being, the negotiations will most likely continue under the Conciliation Board. A timeline has not yet been set for the next steps.

‘We are negotiating against a complex backdrop together with the rest of the private labour market, which we are fully aware of, but we have, of course, also entered into these negotiations with the expectation that the employees would be compensated reasonably for the soaring inflation and the otherwise outstanding results in the sector. We simply haven’t seen the same willingness from the employers at present, and that is why we must now let the negotiations continue via the Conciliation Board’, says Kent Petersen, President of Finansforbundet.
