This is the monthly value of the five care days that an academic specialist starting his or her career in banking and mortgage financing is entitled to if working under a collective agreement with Finansforbundet.

Many people forget that several of the benefits they are entitled to through their jobs have an actual monetary value.

"When comparing their jobs with others, a lot of people only look at their pay and pension.  But the collective agreement offers many benefits of a very high value in fact," explains Rasmus Nørgaard Høgh, who is a senior consultant with the policy and negotiation team ("Politik og Forhandling") of Finansforbundet. 

As he points out, benefits like the extra bank holidays, insurance schemes and increased holiday supplement represent a high value if calculated into Danish kroner.

Know your value

And this is worth remembering if you, for instance, apply for a job with a workplace that has no collective agreement or does not offer the same terms and conditions as you have now.

It gives you an idea of what salary level to ask for. If you are not entitled to care days or healthcare insurance, you're missing out on that amount," he explains. 

He has therefore tried to make a few examples of calculations based on the standard collective agreement for various types of jobs for young people under the age of 35 who begin their careers in banking and mortgage financing; see these below.
