When Morten arrived at work, it seemed like an ordinary day. But suddenly, his colleagues were waiting with a surprise that made him feel both moved and proud. Morten had no idea what was about to happen as he walked through the door on an ordinary Tuesday morning. His calendar was filled with commercial property valuations – just like so many times before. But in the middle of his everyday routines, he was suddenly pulled out of his usual role.
“I really didn’t know anything, and they completely caught me by surprise – but in the very best way,” says Morten, still smiling as he talks about the experience.
He describes how he was almost overwhelmed when he was handed the envelope with the grant.
“It felt as if time stood still for a moment. I was really touched. You’re not celebrated like that every day – especially not without knowing about it in advance.”
Recognition that truly matters
What meant the most to Morten was the fact that it was his colleagues who had nominated him.
“It really means a lot to me that someone has noticed what I do. It’s a huge recognition, and I actually felt a little proud. It really touched my heart.”
Janni Søndergaard Larsen, who nominated him, was also present at the ceremony.
“It was great that she was there. It made everything even more personal. I could really feel that this wasn’t just a price – it was a genuine expression of appreciation from the people I work with every day.”
Helpfulness that doesn’t go unnoticed
Morten is known for always stepping in when colleagues need help.
“I like helping others when I have the time and energy. But I never imagined that anyone would notice it in this way. It makes me happy and motivates me to do even more.”
Although his workplace may vary from Skagen to Aarhus, he always finds time to help when someone needs it.
“It’s important to me that we help each other. That’s how we make everyday work life function.”
A day filled with joy and reflection
Along with five other recipients, Morten travelled to Copenhagen last year to receive the grant.
“I was excited and a little nervous because I knew something special was going to happen. But it was a wonderful day. I felt truly seen and appreciated – not just for what I do, but for who I am,” he says.
He emphasises how meaningful it is to take the time to celebrate one another.
“It gives energy and motivation. I hope others will also get the chance to experience the joy of being recognised in this way.”
A recognition that lasts
The grant has earned a special place for Morten.
“It’s something I’ll remember for a long time. It’s not just a price – it’s proof that what we do for each other is seen and valued.”
