GitHub Copilot and AI-Assisted Development Methods
Learn how AI can support software development from idea and requirements to coding, testing, and documentation. AI is transforming the way digital solutions are developed. In this webinar, you will get a practical introduction to how GitHub Copilot and other AI tools can support software development and make it easier to turn natural language descriptions into code suggestions, solutions, and concrete project improvements.
Using Visual Studio Code and GitHub as examples, you will see how AI can be applied in day-to-day development work. We will demonstrate code suggestions, conversations about existing code, and agent-based approaches to solving more complex tasks. At the same time, we will focus on quality, security, and the professional judgement that remains essential when AI becomes an active part of the development process.
During the webinar, we will cover:
- GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code: code suggestions, chat, planning, and agent-based development
- From natural language descriptions and GitHub issues to code, tests, refactoring, and documentation
- Analysing, explaining, troubleshooting, and improving existing codebases
- Practical use of agents, skills, MCP servers, and related technologies
- Other AI assistants, tool selection, quality assurance, security, and responsible use of AI
After the webinar, you will be able to:
- Understand the keyways of working with GitHub Copilot and the differences between code suggestions, chat, and agents
- Write clearer prompts and provide the context AI needs to solve a task effectively
- Use AI to support coding, refactoring, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting
- Assess when GitHub Copilot or another AI assistant is the most suitable tool for a given task
- Critically evaluate AI-generated output with a focus on accuracy, security, maintainability, and responsibility
You will leave the webinar with a realistic and practical understanding of how AI can be integrated into modern software development. AI does not replace professional expertise, but it can help accelerate development work and free up time for complex assessments and important decision-making.
Who should attend?
This webinar is relevant for software developers, technical business analysts, IT professionals, and anyone working with digital solutions who wants to understand how AI can be applied in software development in practice.
Prerequisites
A basic technical understanding is beneficial, but you do not need prior experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI tools.
How the webinar works
The webinar is practical and application-oriented, combining short expert presentations with hands-on demonstrations in Visual Studio Code. Examples range from simple AI assistant features to more advanced agent-based workflows.
The webinar will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. You can ask the instructor questions via the chat
Note that the webinar will not be recorded, so it will only be possible to attend live.
Duration: 2 hours.
About the instructor
Michell Cronberg has many years of experience as a trainer and consultant within C#, .NET, web development, and software engineering. He has authored several publications on programming and is an experienced conference speaker. In addition, he works extensively with GitHub Copilot and other AI assistants for coding, professional sparring, problem-solving, and learning. This provides him with a strong foundation for sharing both the opportunities, limitations, and best practices of AI-assisted development.
